OK! We need to discuss the white stuff! Whilst understanding the fascination for the rest of you, it simply does my claws no good whatsoever! My well documented elegance goes out the window and I can’t get enough grrrrrrrip to hunt my brrrrrrrrrreakfast. There’s nothing more annoying than mice that are just out of reach. So we’ve called a truce for the festive season……I get extra biscuits in return for being ‘nice’ to the mice.

Edrafil was less than pleased with Feanor last Sunday; the story telling was sooooooooooooo exciting that he downed tools to listen - which meant that we had to add extra day in the week (now officially called Catch Up day) so that they could……. well……..catch up!!!

Now! The Llamas are claiming responsibility for the sudden snowfall. They say that they rrrrrrrrefused to leave the North Pole ( see previous comments) until Santa PRRRRRRROMISED that they could take some snow with them. I’m not sure whether to believe them or not - but they look at me with those huuuuuuuuuge eyes and even BIGGER eyelashes and it’s hard not too. Edrafil says that it is more likely that Santa would have promised Rudolphs Nose itself to be rid of them: they say they can’t help hissing…they’re just born that way. That said, I did hear Lil (the sweet Llama and winner of “Miss Lovely Llama” competition) humming “Away in a manger” the other night! So the North Pole had some influence on them after all…….long may it continue.

Runny Babbit (rabbit in chief…see previous edits) and his fellow rabbits have taken matter into their own hands ..SORRY! pawwwwwwwws .. and have been merrily digging warrens all over the yard for the elves. There are now so many that only Elwe can navigate them properly; in fact, the tunnels under the kitchens in the food hall seem to be the most popular. Can’t think why??

Everyone is now getting rather giddy now that the great day is getting nearer……the lady who owns the toy shop is getting more elfish by the day! Bright clothes, patterned tights….little boots……….I was trying to catch a glimpse of her ears the other day! I’m sure they are getting more pointy!!

Anyway, for those of you close enough to visit, the 2nd installment of the ssssssstory telling is taking place on Sunday 20th at 3.30p.m. followed by carrrrrrrrrrrrrol singing for those of you feeling in fine squeak. Sorry….voice….(can’t get those mice out of my mind)..

Dear Elf followers

I have to let you know that Llamas are back!!! They arrived back this morning and I have heard on good authority (thank you Edrafil) that they were sent back from Lapland after the Reindeers refused to put up with their hissy fits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t know…..they really should know how to behave when they are in the company of others, especially Santa Claus himself……… I don’t think THEY will be getting any presents this year!

I have to go, I have chance of the perrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrfect snooze on top of a really comfy handbag……whilst humans are busy, I can get away with anything!!

Meoooooowwwwww goodness, what a differrrrrrrrrrence a week makes. Thanks to all your promise certificates the Elves have been given extrrrrrra energy to make toys. The Elf dens are so full with presents as a result that they are having to leave some sacks in the Toy Shop as there is no room left in the dens. They are now operating at speed 7.67 on the elfometer (which is the official elf work-rate scale as set by Santa Claus). In fact they have been moving so fast that Feanor had no time to wash his hands and has left tiny elf handprints on the walls at the entrance to the Toy Shop. Chief Elf Edrafil and I had a cat chat earlier this week as he was very concerned about the Elves being seen as they are now working throughout the day as well as the night. Together we came up with a cunning plan….On Tuesday evening I asked Gandi the Goose to request an audience with the Rabbit in Chief, Runny Babbit, as I desperately needed his help. He was understandably a little nervous but I assured him I would eat before we met. And so! we arranged to meet by THE Christmas Tree (you know the Very big, Very sparkly one) at full moon O’clock so we could discuss my plan. I needed him and his friends help with digging a series of tunnels under the farm which would make it much easier for the elves to move around in daylight without being seen. I have to say I was quietly impressed…. as by this morning they were all complete. The only sign that they exist is the tiny doors at the entrance to the tunnels….and this is the magic bit….the doors only open for the Elves!!!!! Puuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. The elves can now move happily around the farm at full speed.

p.s. Santa sent word via Edrafil that the Llamas are well adjusted to the inclement weather at the North Pole and are enjoying Mrs. Claus’s cooking!

Puuurrrrrrr…who says cats don’t celebrate Christmas? Mind you! The growing excitement at Backridge is starting to interfere with my daily catnaps… no more snoozing on the sofa for meeoooow! Had my weekly meeting with Edrafil on Monday. Thank goodness he’s so organised and likes making lists!! It makes my communication with you all the easierrrrrrr. His main request is that you children now need to be getting your Promise Certificates written and completed (he asked for neat writing and proper spelling please…..you know how particular he is!!!) as the Christmas Barn is now extremely busy and a hive of activity at night. All Elves are operating at speed 6.88 on the elfometer…which is the official elf work rate scale as set by Santa Claus.

Santa makes sure that the Elves have twilightly updates on all the children’s wish lists which keeps them working at full speed. Santa has also taken a great interest in the Promise Certificates left in the Elves’ sacks in the Christmas Barn and pays particular attention to those children whose good behaviour helps to make Christmas Extrrrrrrrrrraaaaa Special. Anyway, I have a catnap to catch up on and so will purrrrrrrr off for now, but will back with an update at the weekend.

PS: Our Llamas are missing (come and check for yourselves because we can’t find them)….rumour has it that Santa has called them in as extra recruits for standby for use on Christmas Eve!!!!

PPuuurrrrrS: I’d like to say hello to the very nice young boy who stroked my furrrrrrr the RIGHT way at the weekend. He made me puuuurrrrrrr!!!!! Thankyou.

Hello Backridge Elves Followers!

Well Meow! Wherrrrrrrre shall we starrrrrt? Sorrrrrry…we’rre in full purrrrr at the moment! Can’t be helped - something to do with recent full meooon I think! It’s the way it always starrrrts…at thisssssssss time of the year. I do love the elvessss - but they can be so disruptive to the normal course of events. They just disssssssssappear and then before you know it they are back. ALL that tapping and carrying on? My goodnesssssss - you’d think they would adopt modern technology by neooooooooowwwwww! Anyhow they are becoming more skilled and learned every year…which makes for good converssssssssssssssation you know. Now!…it was mid November when i saw the signs that they were back…….
